Burbage Primary School

Physical Education

Rationale

Rationale
Physical Education at Burbage Primary School is about more than sport—it’s about building confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of being active for all children. Guided by the National Curriculum and the Get Set 4 PE scheme, children enjoy high-quality lessons from both teaching staff and our specialist Sports Coach, Mr Hill.
Year 5 pupils also develop vital water safety skills through weekly swimming lessons. Beyond the classroom, we offer a wide range of clubs and extra-curricular activities, plus exciting opportunities to compete and collaborate at local festivals and competitions.
Opportunities to be active are embedded and prioritised throughout the curriculum. We are committed to the development of positive habits which support children’s physical and mental health.
